YOUNGSTOWN — Police and school officials are investigating an incident at Odyssey School on the city’s East Side that left a student with fractured hands.
According to police reports, the 15-year-old boy was walking down a hallway late last week when words were exchanged between the boy and a teacher.
The boy told authorities the teacher placed him in a headlock and was assisted by other teachers in keeping him restrained.
He said one of the teachers had twisted his hand behind his head.
Reports say the boy was sent back to class, but a school nurse noted that both his hands were “extremely swollen.”
The boy’s mother was notified about the injuries.
She later told police her son was treated at St. Elizabeth Health Center for a fracture to his right hand and a possible fracture to his left hand.
