Heaviest snow expected overnight
YOUNGSTOWN — There should be 4 to 6 inches of new snow on the ground in the Mahoning Valley by 6 p.m. Saturday, a National Weather Service meteorologist said.
The area was to get about an inch tonight with snow expected to start falling around 3 or 4 p.m. today, said Walter Fitzgerald, a NWS meteorologist.
Two to 4 more inches are expected by about 8 a.m. Saturday.
The snow will taper to flurries Saturday with an accumulation of another inch, said Walter Fitzgerald, a NWS meteorologist.
The snow is expected to stop by about 6 p.m. Saturday, he said.
Because of the snow, Struthers has banned parking on public streets from 4 p.m. today to 7 a.m. Sunday. Also, Boardman has banned parking on public streets from 6 p.m. today till 6 p.m. Saturday.
