Diebold to cut jobs
NORTH CANTON, Ohio — Diebold Inc., which makes ATMs and other self-service machines, reported fourth-quarter results well below analyst expectations Wednesday and said it would cut 350 jobs by the middle of February.
President and CEO Thomas W. Swidarski said business related to bank-branch construction in North America “remains especially challenging and will likely not return to historical norms in the near future.”
Diebold earned $16.7 million, or 25 cents a share, for the quarter ended Dec. 31, up from $1.1 million, or a penny per share, a year ago.
