Boardman woman killed in Youngstown crash

YOUNGSTOWN — Pamela Kennedy, 28, of Boardman was killed when the 1999 Ford Crown Victoria in which she was riding landed on its roof after an accident along the 700 block of Wilson Avenue just after 2 a.m. Wednesday.

The driver of the car, Christopher Kelso, 29, of Boardman, and a back-seat passenger, Javier Colon, 29, of Youngstown, were injured and rushed to St. Elizabeth Health Center. They were listed late Wednesday in satisfactory condition.

According to police, the car swerved left of center on Wilson Avenue at Prospect Street then went onto the grass “devil strip” striking a telephone pole. The car ultimately landed upside down with the three passengers trapped inside.

The cause of the accident is under investigation, said Police Chief Jimmy Hughes.

Traficant unsure of run

NORTH JACKSON — Ex-U.S. Rep. James A. Traficant Jr. “definitely wants to run for Congress,” but other factors, such as the success of his Cleveland radio-talk show and other business opportunities may preclude him from doing so, his spokesman, Dennis Malloy, said. If he does, he doesn’t know whether it will be in the 17th or 6th District or as a Democrat, Republican or independent, Malloy added. Those running as Democrats and Republicans have until Feb. 18 to file petitions; those running as independents must file by May 3, the day before the primary. Traficant probably won’t decide until the last possible minute, Malloy said.
