ArcelorMittal, Warren workers reach agreement

WARREN — ArcelorMittal has reached a labor agreement with workers at its Warren coke plant and will be restarting the operation with 60 to 80 employees, said state Sen. Capri Cafaro of Liberty, D-32nd. Workers will be back on the job soon after the contract agreement was reached with the United Steelworkers of America, she said. The plant has been idle because of a downturn in the steel industry.

Allegiant traffic is up

LAS VEGAS — Allegiant Air, which carries passengers from smaller cities to resort locations such as Las Vegas, said Tuesday that traffic jumped 21.6 percent in January, exceeding the carrier’s increase in capacity. Allegiant provides flights from the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport. Allegiant said paying passengers flew 368.5 million miles last month, up from 303 million miles in January 2009. The small but fast-growing airline has reported double-digit traffic gains in recent months.

Cadbury shareholders approve Kraft deal

Cadbury PLC shareholders have approved Kraft Foods Inc.’s roughly $19.5 billion offer to acquire the British candy maker — the final step in creating the global food giant.

The focus shifts to how Kraft will combine the companies and prove it was worth the often-bitter fight.

Kraft announced Tuesday that nearly 72 percent of Cadbury shareholders voted in support of the deal.
