Ohio AG goes to bat for small businesses

COLUMBUS (AP) — Like consumers, small businesses can now turn to the Ohio attorney general’s office for help with bad billing and scams.

Attorney General Richard Cordray on Tuesday announced the official launch of a new initiative to offer protection to Ohio businesses with fewer than 20 employees.

Cordray says a test since July has fielded more than 500 complaints from small businesses and nonprofit organizations and has recovered or saved them more than $60,000.

For example, he says his office helped a Columbus auto repair company get off the hook for an authorized online advertising charge of nearly $850.

In a statement, Ohio Executive Director of Roger Geiger of the National Federation of Independent Businesss says his members appreciate the support.
