Meenachan scores 20 to pace Boardman girls

BOARDMAN — Brooke Meenachan scored 20 points as the Boardman High girls basketball team cruised past Fitch, 69-40, in the opener of the Federal League Tournament.

Doriyon Glass scored 17 points and Monica Touvelle 11. Glass also had nine of her team’s 37 rebounds while junior Missy DeMarinis had four of Boardman’s 12 assists.

For the league tournament title, the Spartans (14-2, 7-0) play Perry next Saturday at Boardman at 2:30.

Perry defeated Jackson 31-30 on Tuesday.

Megan Carney had 11 points to pace Fitch (4-12, 0-7).

The Falcons had 22 turnovers. Boardman had 13 turnovers.
