Feds charge 'unruly' man in diverted Pittsburgh flight

PITTSBURGH (AP) — The FBI has charged a San Francisco man who said he was high on a double dose of medical marijuana cookies with attacking crew members and forcing a US Airways flight to be diverted to Pittsburgh.

A criminal complaint today says 30-year-old Kinman Chan was flying from Philadelphia to Los Angeles on Sunday when he reportedly began screaming in the airliner’s restroom then fought with flight crew members who tried to get him to sit down.

The flight was diverted to Pittsburgh International Airport, where Chan was arrested then jailed until a federal magistrate freed him on bond Tuesday.

He was scheduled for a preliminary hearing later today in Pittsburgh. Chan’s federal public defender declined comment.
