Dr. Charles A. Crans honored as 2009 distinguished physican

YOUNGSTOWN — Dr. Charles A. Crans is the Mahoning County Medical Society’s 2009 Distinguished Physician.

He was presented the award at the society’s annual meeting last week conducted in the Grand Lobby of Powers Auditorium.

Also recognized were recipients of the Ohio State Medical Association Fifty Years in Medicine Award. Honorees are Drs. B. Patrick Brucoli, John J. Buckley Sr., D. James Dallis (posthumously), Nicholas DePizzo Sr., Earl Ebie, and Sadiq Husain.

Dr. Karl Wieneke and John Turner, longtime friends and colleagues of Dr. Crans, with whom he practiced general surgery, presented him the award.
