A summary of police activity in the city of Canfield and Austintown:

CANFIELD

Jan. 22

Criminal damaging: A vehicle was scratched in the parking lot at Customer Support Services, 74 Cardinal Drive, and the owner claims other scratches have been made to her vehicle since May 2009.

Warrants: Police arrested Amirah Erin Whisenant, 26, of 4531 Woodhurst Drive, Austintown, on two failure-to-appear warrants out of Canfield Mayor’s Court and picked up from Austintown police by Canfield police at Greenhaven Cemetery.

Criminal trespassing: Charles A. Callahan, 52, of 9 Willow Way, Canfield was arrested on charges of trespassing at his wife’s residence, also on Willow Way.

Jan. 23

Criminal damaging: The front yard of a home in the 300 block of Overbrook Drive received severe tire marks.

AUSTINTOWN

Jan. 25

Burglary: The main door to an attached garage was pried open at a home in the 5000 block of Cranberry Drive. Nothing was missing.

Recovered property: Two shotguns and a handgun were given to police at a home in the 4000 block of Norquest Boulevard.

Assault: Police arrested Robert S. Pelar, 40, of 55 Millet Ave., Youngstown on a summons charging him with assault and a separate summons charging him with criminal damaging after police say he assaulted a man in his car and broke out the driver’s-side window with a folding chair in the driveway of a home in the 200 block of Third Street.

Theft: A Magnavox television was stolen from a room at Austinwoods, 4780 Kirk Road.

Theft: A prescription was stolen from an apartment in the 400 block of South Raccoon Road.

Attempted burglary: Pry marks to a side garage door were reported at a home in the 5000 block of Cherrywood Court.

Theft: A drill and cable meter were taken from an auto at a home in the 1000 block of County Line Road.

Warrant: Police arrested Raymond Kingsley, 47, of 63 N. Beverly Ave., Austintown, on a warrant charging him with criminal trespassing at Raccoon Road and Melrose Avenue.

Jan. 26

Theft: Police issued a summons to Steve J. Sodomora, 54, of 5123 Oakcrest Drive, Youngstown, in the theft of $46.64 in snack foods at Pilot Oil, 1150 N. Canfield-Niles Road.

Theft: A Garmin GPS was stolen from an auto at a home in the 100 block of Idaho Road.

Drug offense: Police charged Lester H. Barry Jr., 29, of 925 Youngstown-Warren Road, Niles, with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in a parking lot in the 4000 block of Mahoning Avenue.

Warrant: Police arrested Andrew Slaton, 24, of 441 Manchester Ave., Youngstown, at Mahoning Avenue and Meridian Road on a warrant charging him with breaking and entering.

Lost or stolen property: A man reported his wallet missing with a Pennsylvania license, a Visa card, Social Security card and $100 in cash at Infocision, 5740 Interstate Boulevard.

Misuse of credit card: A victim reported his ex-girlfriend charged $793 on his disability debit card at a home in the 300 block of North Yorkshire Boulevard.

Obstructing official business: Police arrested Terrance T. Phillips, 22, 510 West Boston Ave., Youngstown, on a charge of obstructing official business at S. Raccoon Road and Burkey Road.

Theft: Rite Aid contacted Wal-Mart loss- prevention staff to inform them a male suspect in the Rite Aid store said he had just left Wal-Mart and had a camera and a gift bag he had stolen from Wal-Mart, 6001 Mahoning Ave. Wal-Mart notified police.

Warrant: Police arrested a 22-year-old Lake Milton man on warrants for theft and drug abuse of morphine.

Jan. 27

Warrant: Police arrested Adam Douglas, 26, of 1407 Salt Springs Road, Youngstown, on a warrant charging him with a probation violation at Norquest Boulevard and Kimberly Avenue.

Breaking and entering: A vacant house was broken into and copper water lines were stolen in the 1000 block of North Canfield-Niles Road.

Theft: Equipment was rented and not paid for at Leppo Equipment, 330 N. Meridian Road.

Warrant: Police arrested Gary L. Teague, 39, of 2479 Atkinson Ave., Youngstown, on a warrant charging him with probation violation at North Meridian Road and Connecticut Avenue.

Drug offense: Police charged Dena M. Wright, 34, of 5095 Pine Shadow Court, Mineral Ridge, with possession of dangerous drugs in a vehicle in the 100 block of Westminster Avenue. Police said they found OxyContin and other drugs in the suspect’s purse for which she said she did not have a prescription.

Jan. 28

Theft: A total of $1,519.50 was stolen from a 717 Bank checking account at a home in the 3000 block of Northwood Avenue.

Burglary: Copper was stolen from a home in the 5000 block of Norquest Boulevard.

Burglary: Medication and money were taken from an apartment in the 60 block of North Raccoon Road.

Theft: A male is a suspect in a theft from a home in the 5000 block of West Webb Road.

Jan. 29

Warrant: Police arrested Robert Barton, 41, of 10066 Silica Road, North Jackson, on a warrant charging him with failure to appear on a traffic charge for a traffic stop at Mahoning Avenue and Wilcox Road.

Theft: A truck was entered and tools were taken at a home in the 3000 block of Oakwood Avenue.

Fraud: A fraudulent check was deposited in an account at an apartment in the 1000 block of South Raccoon Road.

Aggravated robbery: Edward Erhart, 43, of 2382 Penny Lane, Austintown claimed his car was taken by two males at gunpoint, but his story later was determined to be false, and he was issued a summons for falsification at his home.

Misuse of 911: A man called 911 emergency claiming Sears, 6009 Mahoning Ave., was being robbed. It was later determined he was unhappy with the service he received, and he was issued a summons.

Theft: Money and a phone were taken at Rainbow, 6000 Mahoning Ave.

Theft: Police arrested a 17-year-old male in a theft at Kmart, 4475 Mahoning Ave. He was released to his father.

Traffic pursuit: Police arrested John Andrei, 26, of 6935 Kirk Road, Canfield, after a traffic pursuit at Mahoning Avenue and Fitch Boulevard.

Drug offense: Police issued a summons to Abraham J. Hammond Jr., 53, of 6601 Silica Road, Austintown, on charges of possession of a “weed license,” a fake license to grow marijuana, and a marijuana pipe.

Jan. 30

Theft: A dryer was damaged and an undetermined amount of quarters was stolen from a laundry room in the 60 block of Westminster Avenue.

Burglary: A total of $1,300 in quarters was stolen from a bedroom closet at a home in the 5000 block of Nashua Drive.

Theft: A purse was taken from a woman’s vehicle parked in the 3000 block of South Raccoon Road.

Jan. 31

Assault: A male was struck in the face at the Wedgewood Plaza, 1747 S. Raccoon Road.

Assault: A woman was struck by an unidentified man at Oakwood Avenue and Idlewood Road.

Obstructing official business: Police arrested Taquala North, 21, of 987 Compass West, Austintown, on a charge of obstructing official business and a warrant for failure to appear on a traffic charge at Mahoning Avenue and Meridian Road.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle mirror and wiper were damaged at a home in the 3000 block of Evelyn Road.

Theft: A commercial washer top was removed at an apartment in the 4000 block of Woodhurst Drive.

Warrant: Police arrested Howard McCreary, 42, of 254 S. Main St., Austintown, on a warrant for failure to appear on a traffic charge at Mahoning and Wickliffe Circle.

Criminal mischief: A house was struck with yellow paint balls in the 7000 block of New Road.

Drug offense: Police arrested Lewis D. DeLoach, 23, of 3820 Mahoning Ave., on a charge of possession of marijuana at North Meridian Road and Mahoning Avenue.
