Golf
Canfield (Junior)
Bruce Timo was a repeat player-of-year who appeared in three straight state tournaments: as a freshman and sophomore student at Warren JFK and as a junior at Canfield. He was Div. I co-runnerup at state in Columbus in October when wet weather reduced the tournament to 18 holes, over which Tee-Time Timko shot 75, one stroke behind champion Korey Ward of West Chester Lakota West. Led Canfield to an undefeated All-American Conference Red Div. title. Set front-nine Kennsington course record of 3-under 32.
This past summer, won two national events: Hudson Invitational (at Hudson C.C.) and Callaway PGA Junior Series (at Purdue U.). Colleges being considered are Ohio State, Kent, Virginia, Notre Dame, Mississippi and North Carolina. Father, Bruce, was four-year basketball standout at YSU under Mike Rice and is in Penguins’ hall of fame. Uncle Andy Timko played in the Baltimore Orioles’ minor league system.
