Timko, DeFelice lead Westminster to win

BLUFFTON

Andy Timko (McDonald) scored a career-high 21 points to lead the Westminster men’s basketball team over Pitt-Greensburg, 90-81, in the first round of the Bluffton Holiday Tournament on Wednesday.

Anthony DeFelice (Poland) also scored a career-high, 17 points, for the Titans (3-8), while Anthony Thomas (Union) added 15 points.

Slippery Rock 97, Ohio Eastern 48

SLIPPERY ROCK, PA.

Jabril Bailey scored 17 points to lead four Slippery Rock players in double figures.

Devin Taylor and Joe Vines added 16 points apiece for The Rock (6-3), who have won six of their last seven. Maron Brown had 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Zach Tolzda led OU Eastern (9-8) with 19 points.

MALONE 74, MADONNA 65

HOPE, MICH.

Eric Coblentz followed up his American Mideast Conference player of the week award with 19 points to lead Malone over Madonna in the Russ Devette Holiday Tournament, hosted by Hope College.

The Pioneers (10-4), who led 36-32 at halftime, also got 16 points from Isiah Elliott and 10 points from Ebiowei Porbeni. Cory Veldhuizen finished with nine rebounds for Malone.

Madonna (4-11) was led by Travis Schuba with 16 points, while Mitch Cieslak added 11. Geoff Gaylor and Bobby Naubert finished with 10 points apiece.

Malone will play Hope in the championship game of the tournament tonight.

Muskingum 63, Hiram 55

HIRAM

Josh Brindley scored 19 points and had nine rebounds to lead Muskingum over Hiram in a non-league game.

JJ Armstrong added 16 points for the Muskies (5-6), who led 35-30 at halftime. Kyle Clinedinst finished with a double-double — 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Hiram (7-5) had just one player score in double figures — Babjide Eniola, with 10 points. He also had nine rebounds for the Terriers, who shot just 34 percent from the field (24 of 70). Glenn Campbell added four assists for Hiram, while Hassan Muhammad had eight points.

GENEVA 84, KALAMAZOO 78

CLEVELAND

Richard Colick led Geneva with 29 points and Dave Phillips hit a key 3-pointer to lead Geneva.

WOMEN

HUNTINGDON, PA.

Mount Union’s Rosa LaMattina scored 20 points and Kori Weidt added 14 as the Purple Raiders defeated Case Western Reserve 64-60 at the Juniata Holiday Classic.

Amanda Rose finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds for Mount Union (9-1), ranked No. 11 by ESPN/USA Today.

Erin Hollinger scored 14 points and had 15 rebounds to lead Case (4-5).

OWENS 83, BROWARD 62

Dana Mathews (Struthers) scored six points for Owens (14-2), which is ranked No. 4 in the national junior college rankings.
