Columbiana crash sends 4 to hospitals

The Lisbon Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle crash around 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Georgetown Road and state Route 45 in Perry Township.

A female driver traveling east on Georgetown Road failed to stop at the stop sign and entered the intersection. That vehicle was hit by another vehicle carrying passengers and heading north on state Route 45.

After the collision, the two vehicles went off the northeast corner of the intersection. The second vehicle then hit an overhead light pole.

The occupants of both vehicles were freed by Perry Township Fire Department.

The two drivers were taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Youngstown.

The front passenger in the second vehicle, David Phelps, 45, of Painesville, and another passenger in that vehicle were taken to Salem Community Hospital. The identities of the two drivers and the second passenger are being withheld pending notification of their families.
