Police identify possible robbers

YOUNGSTOWN

Police are investigating two separate armed robberies in the city.

According to police, a 47-year-old Ayers Avenue man told officers he had just walked out of an abandoned home in the area of Shehy and Oak streets after urinating inside the house when someone punched him in the back of the head and face several times. The man said he fell to the ground.

Reports say the attacker took a wallet, utility knife, cell phone and $1,000 from the man’s pockets. The man told police he tried to fight with the attacker, but the man began stabbing him with his own utility knife.

The attacker eventually ran off.

A 74-year-old Boardman man told police he had been robbed of $300 in the parking lot of the Four Seasons Flea Market on McCartney Road last week. A police report was just filed Monday.

The man told police he was in the parking lot of the business when two black males followed him. He said one of the men pulled out a gun and demanded his money.

Police have viewed surveillance footage of the incident and have possible names of the two men. Reports say one of the men may have been implicated in a murder in Campbell this past summer.
