AUSTINTOWN

A local phone center announced it is looking to hire 200 Valley workers to aid its growing clientele base.

Based in Akron, Info-Cision Management Corp. is the nation’s second-largest privately owned teleservice company with 32 call centers in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The new hires will work at the Mahoning and Shenango Valley locations, according to the announcement.

Lisa Watson, recruitment and retention coordinator of the Austintown branch, said about 100 positions are available at the 5740 Interstate Boulevard location, which employs 600. Watson said the Boardman branch at 8530 Crossroads Drive and the New Castle branch at 253 East Washington Street each employs about 300 and are looking to hire an additional 50.

“We offer things like medical and dental insurance, paid vacation and paid holidays. ... We provide assistance to families, too, so that they are healthy and happy,” Watson said.

Founded in 1982, Info-Cision is among the few local businesses expanding.

“I think with the way the economy has been, a lot of our clients are deciding to spend a little more money now,” Watson said. “We consistently outperform our competitors, and we’re gaining new business all the time.”

InfoCision President and CEO Carl Albright said in a press release that the company is poised for continued success.

“We’ve positioned ourselves very well for the economic recovery,” he said. “Unlike many companies who cut employees, salaries and benefits to survive, we did none of those things. We maintained our labor force, kept bonuses and salaries; even expanded our benefits. As a result, we have high morale and an experienced labor force in place.”

The company’s press release also noted a decrease in statewide unemployment reflected in last month’s data released by the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services. In November 2009, the unemployment rate in the state was 10.8 percent. That number dropped to 9.8 percent for November of this year.

“I’ve had more client visits the last several months than ever before,” Albright said. “Over the past couple years as the economy has languished, our clients hunkered down with the rest of the country. The last several months, our clients have begun to spend again and new clients are looking for the best bang for their buck, and InfoCision provides that.”

The company provides customer services, commercial sales and marketing for a variety of Fortune 100 companies and smaller businesses as well as nonprofit, religious and political organizations. At the Austintown location, there are six call centers tailored to various small businesses and nonprofits.

Watson said applications are being accepted for the job openings. To schedule an appointment for an interview, call InfoCision’s job hot line at 1-800-210-6269.
