Gardeners install new president

TUCSON, ARIZ.

Hugh G. Earnhart of Poland, professor emeritus from the history department at Youngstown State University, was installed as president of the Gardeners of America during an annual meeting of the national board of directors in Tucson.

Earnhart, a past president of the Men’s Garden Club of Youngstown, is a member of garden clubs in Cleveland and Fort Wayne, Ind. An Ohio State Master Gardener, he also is an accredited flower and vegetable judge.

Container gardening is on his list of special interests, as are daffodils in the spring and dahlias in the fall.

During winter months he researches the Civil War, builds model trains and lectures on various subjects. He lives in Poland with his wife, Mary Kay.
