East Palestine 72, Leetonia 52

LEETONIA

In what was reported to be the 1,000th basketball victory in school history since the 1909-1910 season, East Palestine notched a 20-point victory on the road.

East Palestine took a 34-20 halftime lead in its 101st season of basketball.

Six-foot-7 senior center Corey Wright had 19 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks for the Bulldogs (4-1), while Jake DiCello added 17 points.

Cody Stewart scored 14 points and had nine rebounds, while DiCello had seven assists.

Leetonia’s Cody Stokes had a game-high 24 points.

Ashtabula Lakeside 71, Lakeview 40

ASHTABULA

Elliot Metheny had 13 points and five rebounds, and the only three-point goal for the Bulldogs (3-4) in the loss. Cody Blizzard scored a game-high 26 points for Lakeside (3-1) and Brenden Hester had 12.

Niles 62, Girard 48

NILES

Bobby Marino score 17 points and also brought down 16 rebounds for the Red Dragons (2-6) and Ray Russ had 14 points for the home team.

Ursuline 78, Beaver Local 41

EAST LIVERPOOL

Ursuline led 23-1 after one quarter and made 10 3-pointers in the consolation game of the Potter Classic.

Jalen Lowe scored 13 points for the Irish (4-2), while Ryan Strollo added 12, Korri Maynard 1 and Atiim Smith 10.

Troy Hudson led Beaver Local (0-6) with 14 points. Ursuline took a 23-1 lead after eight minutes and finished with a 47-15 advantage in rebounds in the consolation game of the East Liverpool Tournament.

Junior Jalen Lowe had 13 points, Ryan Strollo and Korri Maynard had 12 points apiece, while Atiim Smith added 10 points for the Irish (4-2), who made 28 of 54 field goals.

Lowe also had 11 rebounds, while sophomore Kevin Jackson grabbed 10.

Troy Hudson had 14 points for Beaver Local (0-6).

Brunswick 63, Chaney 41

BRUNSWICK

Phillip Hudson scored 21 points for the Cowboys in the first round of the Brunswick Holiday Tournament.

Hudson had five 3-pointers. Chaney (0-3) will play Solon today at 6 p.m. in the consolation game.

United 49, Heartland Christian 42

HANOVERTON

Brett Albright scored 14 points and Matt Gatchel added 11 for the Golden Eagles, who won their first game of the season and improved to 1-4.

Heartland Christian fell to 1-5 on the year.

Salem 78, Campbell 70

CAMPBELL

Claxton LeBron led all scorers with 34 points, including six shots from beyond the arc.

But even that wasn’t enough for the Red Devils (3-4).

The Quakers (3-2) had only five players score, but three of them posted 20 or more points.

Jake Madison had 24 while Taylor Frederickson and Ryan Wolfgang had 23 each.

Lordstown 78, Mineral Ridge 53

LORDSTOWN

After taking a 33-22 halftime lead, Mineral Ridge pulled within 49-45 after three quarters before Lordstown closed the game with a big fourth quarter.

Senior Steven Cribley had 22 points, junior Zack Wells had 18, senior Anthony Kirsch scored 16 points and senior Mike Vigorito had 10 for the Red Devils (3-3).

Lordstown’s 31-point fourth-quarter was helped by seven points from Cribley and six apiece from Wells, Mike Shaffer and Robbie Ensign.

Dino DiGiacomo’s 16 points paced Mineral Ridge.

Brookfield 84, Columbiana 54

BROOKFIELD

After trailing at the half, 30-29, Brookfield’s 55-point second half turned the tables. Preston Sirochman had 22 points for the Warriors (2-2), who made 25 of 32 two-point field goals and 28 of 35 free throws.

Brookfield also had 13 steals, with Jimmy Hawley’s three leading the way.

Luke Barker’s 15 points paced Columbiana (2-2).

West Branch 68, Marlington 61

BELOIT

Tyler Rockwell had 15 points and four rebounds, while Matt Latham had 13 points for the Warriors (2-4) in a tight game with multiple lead changes.

Craig Kinsley provided 16 points for Marlington, while Brandon McDonald added 13.
