Staff report

NEW CASTLE, Pa.

A woman who was caught in a house fire has died, authorities said Monday.

Denise Bradley, 53, died at 10:50 a.m. Saturday, said the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office.

She died of smoke inhalation and burns over 55 percent of her body, the medical examiner’s office said. She was in UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Bradley was a tenant in the duplex at 516 Pearson St. The New Castle Fire Department said she was found inside the front door of the burning house about 1:30 a.m. Thursday.

Two brothers, Rocky and Robert Grim, were rescued from the porch roof of the house. They were unhurt.

The owner of the duplex and her two children escaped from the other side unharmed, the department said. Three firefighters suffered minor injuries.

The city fire marshal was investigating the cause of the fire, but the cause will remain undetermined, said Fire Chief Tom Maciarello.

The house was destroyed and has been torn down, he said.
