‘Stars’ showcases youthful talent

NEW CASTLE, Pa.

“Stars of Tomorrow” will be Jan. 8 at New Castle Playhouse, 212 E. Long Ave., with performances at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.: Directed by Vaughn Hudspath, the live stage show highlights young people of Western Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio. The second act will feature the NCP Mini Stars, performing a medley from “Fame!”

Children’s choir spreads message

The Watoto Children’s Choir will give a concert at 7 p.m. Jan. 12 at Highway Tabernacle Church, 3000 S. Raccoon Road. Admission is free, but a free will offering will be taken.

The choir is made up of children who have lost one or both of their parents due to AIDS or war. Through an energetic fusion of contemporary gospel and traditional African music and dance, the Watoto Children’s Choir shares the plight of the children in Africa and also the hope they have found. Single-parents group plans dance

Portage County Chapter 600 of International Parents Without Partners will have its monthly dance from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. Jan. 8 at Kent VFW 3703, 500 VFW Parkway (off Stow Road). Music will be by DJ Mel.

These monthly dances are open to the public, and non-members are invited.
