Austintown trustees: No liquor permit for Go Go Girls Cabaret

AUSTINTOWN
Township trustees approved a resolution Monday to deny Go Go Girls Cabaret its annual liquor-permit renewal.
“We’re kind of used to it. They do it every year,” said Sebastian Rucci, the club’s owner.
Trustee Lisa Oles said this is the third time the club has been denied its permit. When the board of trustees denies a permit, it is a recommendation that goes to the Ohio Division of Liquor Control for final ruling.
“We’re under the opinion that their license had already been revoked,” Oles said. “We’re not sure why it wasn’t enforced, but as far as we’re concerned, they don’t have a license, which is why we’re objecting to it. It was revoked, so there is no need to approve the liquor license if it doesn’t exist.”
Rucci said the Go Go Girls Cabaret at 5455 Clarkins Drive continues to serve alcohol.
“For the last three consecutive years, we’ve objected to [the permit] based on the fact that they’ve become an establishment that is a nuisance to the community,” Oles said, adding that the club has violated numerous laws.
Rucci said he thinks the board is corrupt.
“What we’ve found in our battles with them [is] we’re the only ones they’ve ever rejected,” he said. “There are over 100 liquor places in town, and they haven’t rejected one of them in at least the last quarter- century.”
Rucci said he will fight this rejection as he has fought the last three.
“We’re in courts,” he said. “The courts have always treated us better than Austintown.”
Rucci and five others were indicted in April and charged with engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, money laundering, perjury and two counts each of promoting prostitution at the club. The cases are still pending.
