Neighbors help to recover stolen goods

Neighbors helped a Fremont Avenue Northeast man recover items stolen from his home Sunday evening.

A 33-year-old resident of the 1600 block of Fremont said he discovered his home had been broken into when he returned home at about 8 p.m.

Based on footprints in the snow, it appeared that two people had broken in and taken a laptop computer, wallet and Xbox game system and games, police said.

After police left, dispatchers received another call from the victim, saying two suspects had returned and the victim and others were chasing them.

A neighbor told police two black males got out of a newer dark-colored Chevrolet Blazer, reached into a pickup truck in a driveway and removed a pillow case.

Members of the neighbor’s family and the victim chased the two males, one of whom dropped the pillow case containing all of the stolen items, police said.

The victim and neighbors continued chasing the males, but they got away. The victims received their goods back.
