Trumbull County Catholic Parishes, in collaboration with the Office of Pro-Life, Marriage and Family Ministry at the Diocese of Youngstown, will host Dr. Ray Guarendi in a program Jan. 5 at Leo’s Ristorante, 7042 E. Market St.
His topic will be “Back to the Family.”
The event will begin with a buffet dinner at 6 p.m.
Guarendi, father, clinical psychologist, author, public speaker and radio host, will share the results of a three-year national search for strong families, revealing those characteristics most common to strong families and struggles and difficulties most families face.
The cost is $15.

Program on grace, forgiveness

Villa Maria Spirituality and Education Center will present an inspirational program Jan. 24 and 25 focusing on grace and forgiveness.
Marietta Jaeger-Lane will tell of her 7-year-old daughter’s abduction from a campground in Montana while the family slept.
An abbreviated evening program will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Jan. 24. The cost is $7, which includes a light snack.
The full-day program will be from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Jan. 25. The cost is $50 and includes a continental breakfast, snacks and lunch.

Sabbath school

A Sabbath school will begin at Emmanuel Seventh Day Adventist Church, 108 W. Indianola Ave., with the theme “We’re Bound for Heaven in 2011.”
Kathryn Hawks Haney is school superintendent.
The first programs will be Jan. 1 at 9 a.m. with Pastor Jeffrey Baskin preaching and Pastor Russell Fields of the host church at 11 a.m.
Other programs planned are Jan. 8 with Dr. Ruppert Bushner of Akron, of the Allegheny West Conference of Seventh Day Adventists; Jan. 15, Dr. Wilbur Young; Jan. 22, Jesse Alli; and Jan. 29, Pastor Fields.
Log Cabin Ministries

Log Cabin Ministries, Route 46, 565 N. Niles-Canfield Road, is a new church plant through the Steel Valley Baptist Association.
The ministry oversees the Truckers Truck Stop Ministry at the Petro Truck Stop in Girard, which is also an outreach of Steel Valley and Log Cabin Ministries.
Services at the Petro are 9 a.m. Sundays in the theater with Chaplain Ron Shank.
Services at the Log Cabin are at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sundays.
There is a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Thursdays and Bible study at 5 p.m. Saturdays.
