Christmas in Cornersburg came a little early this year, thanks to local merchants. The Cornersburg Dairy Queen, owned by Ray and Chrissy Smith, and other merchants, hosted holiday events Dec. 3-5.

To celebrate Christmas in Cornersburg, the Dairy Queen had a live reindeer display from 4-8 p.m., with Santa arriving to a very large crowd by fire truck at 5 p.m. The restaurant also offered specials inside and attendees could purchase hot chocolate outside and could also roast hot dogs and marshmallows on an outside fire, with the proceeds from the marshmallows going to Akron Children’s Hospital.

“This is the second year we have held this event. We felt the need to define our neighborhood and we felt this event would bring people to Cornersburg,” Ray Smith said.

Other activities offered at the Cornersburg Dairy Queen during the weekend included live holiday jazz music, ice sculpture carving, another chance to visit with Santa and holiday caroling.

Attendees could also enter a contest inside to win a wreath full of gift certificates and lottery tickets and could also enter to win prizes from local businesses.

Belleria Pizza also participated in Christmas in Cornersburg with ice sculpture carving and Christmas carolers, along with an appearance by Mr. and Mrs. Claus.
