Christmas bells were ringing loud and clear at Canfield Presbyterian Church, as it hosted “Singing, Ringing, Caroling Christmas” on Dec. 17.

The performance was a celebration of the musicality of the church’s congregation, but Director of Christian Education Marian Bauer insisted it was about more than just the music.

“Although we are performing for a crowd, we always keep in mind the reason for celebrations at Christmas. In that way, it’s a performance for our higher power as much as it is for our members.”

The concert that displayed the many talents of Canfield Presbyterian members was organized by director Susan McCurley. The singing was provided by the Chancel Choir, and the ringing provided by Trinity Bells, both elder members of the congregation hitting high notes with their voices and the many golden bells they swung.

The spotlight was also given to Vigorous Vibrations and Vigorous Voices, featuring the bells and singing of Canfield Presbyterian members 10 and under.

After an impressive show, McCurley couldn’t hold back the pride for her choirs and bell choirs.

“I’m overwhelmed by the work these members have done for me. They’ve been swinging bells and singing Christmas carols since October, but still smiling today. I’m so proud of them.”
