The Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) District Five hosted its annual Fall Conference Nov. 20 at Henry H. Stambaugh Auditorium in Youngstown.

Highlighting the conference were the performances of the OMEA District 5 Middle School and High School Honors Bands. Band directors from across Ashtabula, Mahoning and Trumbull counties submitted hundreds of nominations to be selected. Four middle school and six high school Canfield band members were selected to perform with these prestigious ensembles.

The OMEA District 5 Middle School Honors Band was directed by conductor and composer Rob Grice.

Canfield Village Middle School band members who participated were Rachel Nagy on clarinet, Max Lumsden on baritone saxophone, Amy Goddard on French horn and Lennon Sackela on percussion.

The High School Honors Band was conducted by Youngstown State University Director of Bands Stephen L. Gage.

Canfield High School band members participating were Sara Bolina on flute, Alicia Smith on oboe, Michael Seifert on bassoon, Rachel Smith on trumpet, Brad Smith on trombone and Aaron Graneto on percussion.
