POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:
POLAND
Dec. 17
Arrest: Police picked up 23-year-old Justin J. Kizar, 5537 Kennedy Road, Lowellville, in the 7100 block of Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road. Kizar was wanted on a warrant from Struthers Municipal Court charging him with contempt of court.
Dec. 20
Burglary: Someone entered a garage in the 7300 block of Clingan Road and took a saw, a generator and a motorcycle. The loss was estimated at $1,300.
Criminal damaging: A vehicle and a garage door were damaged in the 3400 block of Dobbins Road.
BOARDMAN
Dec. 19
Theft: Jessica M. Skelley, 22, of 411 Whipple Ave., Campbell, and Rhiannon L. Summerville, 28, of 1779 McCollum Road, Youngstown, were charged in the theft of a $12 pair of slippers from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive. Summerville also faced a criminal-trespassing count.
Theft: Mary E. Sutton, 68, of 351 Breaden Ave., Youngstown, faced a felony charge after $640 worth of clothing was stolen from Sears in Southern Park Mall.
Theft: Ninety prescription pills and two credit cards were stolen from a residence in the 100 block of Afton Avenue.
Breaking and entering: Someone may have used a key to enter a vacant home in the 100 block of Alburn Drive, then removed copper piping from the basement.
Theft: A Southern Boulevard woman reported the theft of a credit card from her wallet.
Theft: A Youngstown woman reported a family member obtained her prescription without consent at an East Midlothian Boulevard store.
Aggravated menacing: An East Huntington Drive woman told police a caller threatened to kill her family and shoot at her residence.
Dec. 20
Theft: A $300 amplifier was removed from a car in the 5300 block of Youngstown-Poland Road.
Attempted burglary: Three males reportedly tried to enter a residence in the 4500 block of Grover Drive.
Assault/criminal damaging: A man at an Aravesta Avenue residence told officers another visitor bent one of his fingers, then placed a large scratch on his vehicle’s quarter panel.
Menacing: A woman reported another female threatened her at a Doral Drive business.
Theft: A Terrace Drive man reported Viagra pills and $16 missing from his home.
Theft: A customer rented but failed to return a carpet-cleaning machine to Dollar General, 859 E. Midlothian Blvd.
Misuse of a credit card: A Rockland Drive man discovered a $152 fraudulent charge to his debit-card account.
Harassment: A former Southern Park Mall employee reported her estranged husband continually called her at work, resulting in her termination from one of the mall’s stores.
Criminal damaging: A vehicle’s driver’s-side mirror was damaged in the 40 block of McClurg Road.
Breaking and entering: Someone entered a vacant residence in the 100 block of Roche Way and stole a TV, a computer, a crib and other items.
Arrest: A traffic stop on Midlothian Boulevard resulted in the arrest of 51-year-old Michael D. Miller, 25 Market St., Youngstown, on a charge of obstructing official business. Miller got out of his car, then swore at and became belligerent with police, a report said.
Fraud: A Ferncliff Avenue man told authorities a caller claimed the man had six felony charges pending and would be arrested unless he sent $1,437 to someone in Buffalo, N.Y. The accuser contacted the Ohio Attorney General’s office and learned it was a scam.
Theft: Two women stole meat and other food from Giant Eagle, 1201 Doral Drive.
Theft: A flat-screen TV was taken from a concourse area in Southern Park Mall.
Dec. 21
Theft: A woman left Southern Park Mall and discovered numerous pieces of jewelry missing from her car.
Theft: Police booked 18-year-old Laura A. Daviduk, 3334 Burkey Road, Austintown, after $40 worth of jewelry was stolen from Walmart. She was released on a summons.
Theft: A 17-year-old Youngstown girl was accused in the theft of a jewelry set from Walmart and released to the custody of an uncle.
Misuse of a credit card: A Sigle Lane man noticed an unauthorized $516 transaction had been made.
Theft: Roughly $872 worth of DVDs was stolen from Barnes & Noble Booksellers, 381 Boardman-Poland Road.
Arrest: Officers pulled over a vehicle on Southern Boulevard and took into custody 50-year-old Robert L. Cayson Jr., 1425 Seventh St. SW, Warren, who was wanted on a bench warrant accusing him of failing to appear to pay various fines and costs.
Harassment: A Lockwood Boulevard woman reported her former husband sent unwanted and obscene text messages.
Theft: Police picked up Edward C. Wheeler, 23, of 11140 Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road, New Middletown, who was accused in the theft of a DVD from Walmart.
Dec. 22
Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Youngstown woman said her brother took her car to Southern Park Mall without permission.
Theft of services: An employee with Rondinelli Tuxedo, 207 Boardman-Canfield Road, told police a man has been illegally dumping garbage in the business’s trash bin for about a year.
Theft: Two 12-inch subwoofers and a 250-watt amplifier were removed from a vehicle in the 6800 block of Southern Boulevard.
Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 200 block of Boardman-Canfield Road was found with scratches to its paint.
Theft: Three gold rings and another ring were stolen from a home in the 8000 block of Spartan Drive.
Theft: Fifty-two toys were stolen from Kmart, 1209 Boardman-Poland Road, costing the store $965.
Recovered property: An Erie Street woman found her 2001 Pontiac vehicle after having reported it stolen.
Identity fraud: A Green Glen Drive woman reported a caller from Georgia tried to fraudulently obtain her personal information, including Social Security number and date of birth.
Assault: A township woman alleged her boyfriend, of Hillman Way, tossed the accuser and punched her face during an argument.
Theft: Authorities on Boardman-Canfield Road took custody of 42-year-old AngelicHiggins, 4423 New Road, Austintown, who was wanted on a felony theft charge as well as on two misdemeanor warrants.
Theft: Frances V. Corsale, 28, of 282 Tenth St., Campbell, faced a felony charge after an official with the J.C. Penney store in Southern Park Mall said she caught an employee ringing up and deleting more than $1,000 worth of sales. Corsale admitted to the crime, police said.
Auto theft: A 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix was stolen in the 4800 block of Erie Street.
