Robinwood chorus takes its show on the road

Neighbors | Shaiyla Hakeem .Robinwood Lane Elementary fourth-grader David Santiago played Ebeneezer Scrooge for the school's rendition of "A Christmas Carol." The fourth-grade after school choir performed the musical for students and staff during school hours Dec. 10.

“Bah! Humbug” echoed through the auditorium of Robinwood Lane Elementary Dec. 17 as students reenacted a holiday classic.

Under the direction of musical education teacher Dean Wilson, the fourth-grade afterschool chorus performed their rendition of “A Christmas Carol” for students and faculty during school hours. The musical featured more than 10 songs and served as the annual Christmas program.

They performed the musical four times over the holiday season, including a special appearance at the Beeghly Oaks Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center in Boardman.

The 53-member chorus will be featured on WFMJ Channel 21’s showcase of the Feed Our Valley holiday concert Dec. 24 and 25, which was recorded Dec. 11 at the Eastwood Mall. This is Robinwood Lane’s fourth consecutive year participating in the concert.

The fourth-grade chorus, which practices once a week after school, will begin preparations for its spring musical after winter break. It will be called “Composer Chronicles” and will feature various American composers. The chorus is open to any fourth-grader and there are no tryouts.
