Ohio gets high marks for jobless benefits decisions

COLUMBUS (AP) — A state agency says Ohio is a top performer when it comes to speed and accuracy in distributing unemployment compensation benefits.

The Department of Job and Family Services says quality reviewers examined unemployment benefit decisions for the year ending June 30. They found Ohio issued benefits quickly while safeguarding against improper payments and fraud. Ohio led in quality, integrity and timeliness among large states, even as caseloads increased.

The agency says it adjusted its staffing and hours to accommodate increases in the number of people filing for jobless benefits.
