YOUNGSTOWN

An Austintown man could spend up to eight years in prison for charges stemming from injuries to the 2-year-old daughter of his former girlfriend while the child was in his care.

Timothy White, 30, of Austintown appeared Monday before Judge Lou D’Apolito of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court for a pretrial hearing. White had been charged with three counts of felony child endangering and felonious assault.

White entered a plea agreement with prosecutors whereby the felonious-assault charge will be dismissed along with two counts of child endangering. He has agreed to plead guilty to the remaining count of child endangering.

White could face up to eight years in prison on the second-degree felony charge, but prosecutors, under the plea agreement, will recommend a five-year prison sentence.

Judge D’Apolitio will sentence White on Feb. 18.

The charges stem from an incident in November 2009 when White was baby-sitting the 2-year-old daughter of his then-girlfriend.
