J.D. Byrider, a national used car and finance company, has awarded Rob Palmer its Franchise of the Year honor for the eighth time. Palmer owns J.D. Byrider locations in Boardman; Hermitage, Pa.; Monroeville, Pa.; and Pittsburgh. The company recognized Palmer’s commitment to customer service, sales excellence and best practices. A Palmer-owned Pittsburgh franchise was honored with the President’s Award based on its portfolio quality, customer-service rankings and earnings.

Howard Hanna Mortgage Services was named as one of 21 recipients of this year’s Leadership Circle Award from Genworth Mortgage Insurance. The national award recognizes lending excellence, measured by performance, processes and values.

Case manager Jeff Dutton has been named 2010 Employee of the Year for the Corrections Corporation of America’s Northeast Ohio Correctional Center in Youngstown. The honor recognizes employees who have made significant contributions to facility operations, staff morale and the community.

The Builders Association of Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania has selected five Youngstown State University students for its annual scholarship program. The 2010 recipients are Brett Cash of Columbiana; Mark Cramer of Girard; Randy Campana of Youngstown; Steven Opperman of Enon Valley, Pa.; and Zachary Barkley of Salem. The scholarships go to students who excel in YSU’s Civil & Construction Engineering Technology program. Each of the 2010 scholars were awarded $2,000.
