The Rev. Nicholas Shori officiated as Catherine Serenko and Thomas Ruminski, both of Lakewood, were united in marriage at 2 p.m. Sept. 4 at St. Paul the Apostle Church.

The bride, daughter of Chuck and Carol Serenko, and the groom, son of Frank and Christine Ruminski, all of New Middletown, were honored during a reception at St. Mary’s Assumption Social Center in Youngstown before leaving on a wedding trip to the Hawaiian island of Maui.

The bride wore an ivory strapless gown adorned with beading and designed with an asymmetrical waist and semichapel train.

Black gowns were worn by the honor attendants, Carolyn Serenko, the bride’s sister, and Lindsey Wolfe. Wearing eggplant-colored gowns were the bridesmaids, Rachel Serenko and Jamie Serenko, cousins of the bride; Michelle Shafer, the groom’s sister; Jessica Snyder; and Jessica Gifford.

Frank Ruminski served as best man for his brother, and groomsmen were Paul Sujka, Robert Canter and Paul Canter, cousins of the groom; Lee Shafer, his brother-in-law; Eric Zitkovic; Mark Horvath; and Eric Fender.

Flower girl was the groom’s niece Samantha Shafer, and ring bearer was his nephew Conner Shafer.

The bride graduated magna cum laude from Youngstown State University with a bachelor’s degree in nursing, She is a registered nurse in the operating room at University Hospital Case Medical Center in Cleveland and is pursuing a master’s degree in health-care administration at Cleveland State University.

The groom earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from YSU and a master’s in business administration from CSU. He is a quality engineer for Gilbane Building Co. in Cleveland.

The couple live in Lakewood.
