Woodside Elementary was definitely full of girl power Dec. 1, as four first-grade classrooms celebrated Fantastic Females Day.
“This day is all about celebrating the ladies that support our students, care for them, or inspire them,” Woodside Principal Tim Kelty said of Fantastic Females Day. “Today isn’t just about moms — we welcome aunts, grandmas and friends. Any wonderful lady who is important to a student is welcome.”
As the fantastic females entered the first-grade classrooms, they were met with hugs from their Woodside student. Many of the ladies were given tours of the classrooms, before settling in for snacks and an impromptu story time with Christmas story class projects. With help from their females, the students then decorated pine cones with glitter for the class Christmas tree.
After being asked why she brought her mom, Susan McCarthy to Fantastic Females Day, Liyan McCarthy exclaimed: “Because I love her!”
