Jewelry theft marks 4th break-in at home

YOUNGSTOWN

One item of men’s jewelry was taken from the Breaden Street home of a 59-year-old man Friday — the second time the home has been broken into in the past two weeks and the fourth time this year.

The man said “he cannot keep anything in his home of real value due to the fact that this is the second burglary of his home in the past two weeks and fourth one this year,” an officer wrote in a police report.

The burglar entered the home by kicking in the front door sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 5:45 p.m., the report said. A smeared mud print was visible on the front door.

The alarm panel had also been removed from the wall inside the house, disabling it, police said. The bedroom had been ransacked, but the jewelry appeared to be the only thing missing.
