Canfield youth wrestlers second at duals

Neighbors | Submitted.Canfield youth wrestlers Ryan and Jake Petro, Christian Wayt, Billy Robinson, Hunter Helminiak, Will Dawson, Nathan Whitehead, Dominic Cooper, David Crawford, Braxton Madison, Georgio Poullas, Terry Adkins and Michael Dudash competed in a tournament Dec. 4 and took home the trophy for second place.

The Canfield youth wrestling team went 4-1 to finish second Dec. 4 at a dual meet tournament to start the season.

The Cards competed beat Brecksville (32-25), Aurora (35-21), Mantua (40-13) and Austintown (45-12). The lone loss was to Akron Wrestling Club (27-9 ).

“The boys wrestled well for the first meet of the season,” said coach Dave Crawford. “We have a lot of work to do, but we are wrestling well.”

Will Dawson went undefeated at 82 pounds, winning all five matches by pin, earned team MVP honors.
