‘King’s Speech,’ ‘Fighter’ earn nods
LOS ANGELES
The British monarchy drama “The King’s Speech” and the boxing drama “The Fighter” led the Screen Actors Guild Awards with four nominations each Thursday, among them honors for Colin Firth, Christian Bale and Helena Bonham Carter.
While “The King’s Speech” star Firth was among best-actor nominees, “The Fighter” star Mark Wahlberg missed out in that category.
His co-stars Bale, Amy Adams and Melissa Leo all earned supporting nominations, along with Bonham Carter and Geoffrey Rush for “The King’s Speech.”
DMX going to prison

Court officials in Arizona say the rapper known as DMX has had his probation revoked and is heading to prison for one year.
The Maricopa County Superior Court issued the ruling Thursday against the rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons. Simmons was arrested last month for violating probation. Documents allege Simmons failed to submit to drug testing and drove on a suspended license.
Boy bands team up

New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys are bringing their ’90s boy-band magic to Dick Clark’s annual New Year’s Eve TV special.
Producers say the two groups are mashing up to close out 2011 on the ABC special. They’ve melded their monikers to become NKOTBSB.
