POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:
POLAND
Dec. 7
Robbery: A man stole two 5-pound bags of shrimp from Giant Eagle, 3130 Center Road, struggled with a security guard who tried to detain him and fled in a white truck.
Identity theft: A Peddlers Court man reported being a victim.
Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 2400 block of Clyde Street sustained $80 in damage.
Dec. 8
Stolen property: Police arrested Jack A. Sallaz, 37, of 321 Oakview Ave., Struthers, and 47-year-old Duane E. Stamp, who listed addresses on Seventh and 12th streets in Campbell, on felony warrants from the township charging them with receiving stolen property.
Dec. 10
Harassment: A Bel Aire Lane woman filed a report.
Dec. 11
Criminal damaging: Twenty-five strands of Christmas lights were damaged near Tuscany Drive and Dobbins Road.
BOARDMAN
Dec. 9
Theft: A Campbell woman discovered the theft of $4,700 she had set aside for her mother’s care. The mother is in a West Boulevard health-care facility.
Assault: Jay R. Weston, 24, of 10738 Main St., New Middletown, was charged after his former girlfriend alleged that while in the 300 block of Boardman-Canfield Road, Weston placed her in a choke hold, punched her face and struck her wrist after she refused to give him a ride.
Possible theft: A man reported his wallet lost or stolen at a Boardman-Canfield Road store.
Theft: Vicki L. Porrase-Gallagher, 53, of 160 Longview Circle, North Lima, was charged with stealing $311 worth of clothing from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall.
Arrest: Authorities picked up 29-year-old Tasha E. Floyd, 115 Shields Road, Boardman, who was wanted on two warrants, including a felony theft charge.
Theft: Tiara LaFlore, 18, of 81 Elliot Lane, Youngstown, was charged in the theft of two pairs of socks from Sears in the Southern Park Mall.
Assault: A Shadyside Drive woman alleged an irate bus driver picked up and pushed her 10-year-old son back into his seat as the boy was en route from school. He was not injured.
Dec. 10
Theft: Theresa Duley, 31, of 1073 Compass West Drive, Austintown, faced a felony count after $510 worth of clothing and perfume was stolen from Sears. Duley also was wanted on a probation-violation charge.
Identity fraud: A Havenwood Drive man noticed an unauthorized $130 charge to his credit card.
Breaking and entering: A hedge trimmer and a battery charger were removed from a shed someone had entered in the 900 block of Pearson Circle.
Harassment: A Boardman Boulevard woman said her former husband has been making such calls for about one week.
Identity fraud: A Willow Drive man told police he received a notice stating his credit-card application was denied, though he had never applied.
Bad checks: Two checks, one each for $300 and $860, were written at Midwest Money Center Inc., 5021 Market St., on a closed account.
Theft: Miscellaneous hygiene products were stolen from Deals Nothing Over a Dollar, 223 Boardman-Canfield Road.
Assault: A Trenholm Road man accused a family member of slapping his face and twisting his right arm.
Auto theft: A 2006 Pontiac G6 vehicle was stolen in the 80 block of Prestwick Drive.
Dec. 11
Theft: A 15-year-old New Brighton, Pa., girl was charged in the theft of $54 worth of jewelry from Macy’s.
Theft: A woman made reservations for a birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese’s, 521 Boardman-Poland Road, then failed to pay the $152 bill.
Harassment: A worker for a Southern Park Mall store reported receiving a series of such calls.
Criminal mischief: Three 15-year-old Boardman boys were cited on charges of criminal mischief and violating curfew after police responded to debris in the middle of Hitchcock Road. The teens admitted having placed two lawn chairs and a metal antique wheel in the road, a report showed.
Menacing: An employee with a Market Street health-care center told police a resident’s family member threatened to harm three co-workers if they didn’t take proper care of the resident.
Arrest: Officers responded to a disoriented person at a Market Street business, then charged 31-year-old Salimah Z. Elamin, 748 Winona Drive, Youngstown, with disorderly conduct, obstructing official business and resisting arrest when, they said, she became combative with police.
Criminal trespassing: A Carter Circle woman discovered her vehicle’s sunroof was open.
Theft: Tina M. Gailey, 46, of 47145 Riffle Road, Rogers, was charged in the theft of four purses from Macy’s.
Assault: An Applecrest Court woman reported another female got out of a vehicle and punched the accuser’s face, causing a bloody nose. The woman sought medical treatment.
Criminal mischief: Two Sequoya Drive lawns sustained minor damage.
Theft: A dealer’s license plate was removed from a car in the 800 block of Afton Avenue.
Theft: Police arrested Ashonta Gore, 23, of 1967 Southwest Blvd., Desire Pruitt, 25, of 2809 Randolph St. NW, and 19-year-old Adrienna M. Jackson, 1180 Roberts Ave. NW. The three Warren women faced theft-related charges after merchandise was stolen from Kmart, 1209 Boardman-Poland Road, and Gore also was wanted on several misdemeanor warrants.
Aggravated menacing: A Wilda Avenue woman alleged her former boyfriend threatened to harm her and drive his vehicle into her residence.
Counterfeit: A Cook Avenue man told police he received in the mail a fake $2,596 check.
Theft: A man stole shirts, socks and undergarments from Dollar General, 271 Boardman-Canfield Road.
Menacing: A man backing out of his Lynn Mar Avenue driveway said a neighbor threatened him.
Domestic violence: Ivan D. West, 25, of 164 Stadium Drive, Boardman, was charged with the crime after his fiancee alleged West had pushed her and closed a door on her foot during an argument.
Dec. 12
Criminal damaging: Three decorative metal Christmas trees were damaged in the 7400 block of Jaguar Drive.
Theft: Officers charged 20-year-old Kirk E. Fisher II, 742 County Line Road, New Castle, Pa., with theft and carrying a concealed weapon after a $40 set of earphones was stolen from Macy’s. Fisher also had a folding knife and a set of brass knuckles, a report said.
Harassment: A woman and her daughter, of Sheridan Road, reported getting unwanted calls and text messages.
Criminal damaging: A light post was knocked down and damaged in the 300 block of Melbourne Avenue.
Menacing: A worker for a Boardman-Poland Road eatery reported her former boyfriend made roughly 100 unwanted calls in one day, then came to her place of employment.
Dec. 13
Domestic violence: Police issued a warrant against a 41-year-old township man after a South Schenley Avenue woman alleged he had shoved and held her down, them pulled out some of the accuser’s hair during an argument.
Assault/damage: A man choked a woman at a Boardman-Poland Road business, then knocked off one of her vehicle’s mirrors.
Arrest: Authorities charged 18-year-old Kyle R. Bluhm, 9022 Oyster Road, North Benton, with public indecency after three people at the Southern Park Mall alleged Bluhm had exposed himself.
Auto theft: A 2001 Chevrolet Malibu was stolen in the 4000 block of Hudson Drive.
Theft: Two gold wristwatches, a bracelet and a pair of gold earrings were missing from LeRoy’sJewelers in the Southern Park Mall.
Theft: A woman reported her purse stolen at the Southern Park Mall.
Theft: A Boardman-Poland Road store employee discovered her wallet missing from a locker.
Threats: A South Schenley Avenue woman reported a caller threatened to shoot her.
Identity fraud: An Ivy Hill Drive woman learned of a bogus $50 check having been posted to her account.
