LISBON
Miranda Todd, 23, did not enter a plea Thursday in Columbiana County Municipal Court when she appeared on a charge of endangering children.
She was arrested earlier this week as part of an investigation into the death of her 7-month-old boy, Derek A. Dennison, at 12:38 a.m. July 23. She was found indigent, and a public defender will be appointed for her. Todd is to be back in court at 1:30 p.m. Thursday. She is in county jail. Columbiana County Coroner Dr. William A. Graham Jr. said the death was a homicide, and an autopsy indicated there had been a pattern of abuse. She has given addresses in Salem and Salem Township.
Burglary charges
STRUTHERS
Two people who are charged in a burglary at a Lowellville Road house remained in Mahoning County jail Thursday, a Struthers detective said.
Nicole M. Ballester, 29, of Boardman had not yet posted 10 percent of a $25,000 bond. Sergio R. Rivera, 26, of Youngstown had not posted 10 percent of a $125,000 bond, said Detective Jeff Pantall.
The two are charged with aggravated burglary. The homeowner’s purse with $1,000 in it was stolen from her kitchen at 12:30 a.m. Nov. 14.
Pantall said police believe Rivera stole the purse with inside information from Ballester, who worked several times as a home-health-care provider for the homeowner.
The two were arraigned Wednesday in Struthers Municipal Court.
