Four varsity wrestlers finish in top 10

The Poland varsity wrestling team competed at the Riverside Rumble last weekend, with several competitors earning placement honors.

Max Prizant was sixth in the 103-pound weight class, Tad Duran took ninth in the 119-pound weight class, AJ Shields finished 10th at 125 pounds and Nick Rizzo placed 10th at 215 pounds.

“As a whole, the team made some costly mistakes, which ended up affecting their placement or being knocked out of the tournament all together,” said Poland coach Tony Stellato.

“In a sense, it’s a good thing the team makes these mistakes now and ultimately learns from them. The necessary adjustments will be made to their game and they’ll continue to move forward, getting better every day and preparing for the push toward the postseason.”
