Farmers National Bank employees enjoy seasonal cheer at their annual holiday party every year, but they also use the celebration to give back. At this year’s Dec. 4 party, Team Farmers decided its usual donations to Toys for Tots just weren’t enough.

“Farmers has been a part of this community, and only this community, for 123 years, and our employees believe in the importance of supporting this Valley in any way we can,” President and CEO John Gulas said of the decision to further their charitable efforts.

Along with the usual $10 every employee donated to Toys for Tots, Farmers’ employees participated in 50/50 and basket raffles, with proceeds to be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank. Popular baskets in the raffle included gifts like YSU season football tickets, a football signed by Jim Tressel and a week of paid time off for a lucky employee.

While philanthropy played a large part in the event, the Farmers’ staff and executive team also enjoyed a performance from the Youngstown Connection, a lively scavenger hunt, and dinner, drinks and dancing.

“I’m so proud of our team and how willing they are to give during every holiday season,” said Farmers’ marketing director Amber Wallace.
