Ex-cop blames alleged victim in sex case

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (AP) — The former head of a police department’s special victims unit says the woman accusing him of a sexual assault was actually the aggressor.

Former Bensalem police Sgt. Michael Marren told a Bucks County jury on Thursday that the alleged victim kissed him then reached down his pants at the township’s rescue squad headquarters in March.

Marren, a part-time medic, says he rebuffed woman’s advances.

Prosecutors say Marren assaulted the woman after a night of drinking to mourn the death of another medic. He was fired from the police department after his arrest.

Closing arguments are set for today.
