Children’s center plans May opening


Oh Wow! The Roger and Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science & Technology will open to the public May 12, 2011, officials with the facility announced today.

The center has received $1.5 million towards its $2.25 million capital campaign goal. The center will have 24 permanent exhibits.

The center will be at 11 W. Federal St. in downtown Youngstown in the former McCrory’s building.

The center, formerly called the Children’s Museum of the Valley, was located at 139 E. Boardman St. from August 2004 till it closed in December 2009 to prepare for its relocation.
