Man gets at least 6 years in tot belt beating

BEAVER, Pa. (AP) — A western Pennsylvania man whose toddler was left with brain damage after being beaten with a belt will spend at least six years in prison.

Twenty-two-year-old Dennis Kahlil Miller could spend more than a decade in prison under the terms of his sentencing Wednesday.

Authorities say Miller hit his 2-year-old son Damir with a belt 47 times after boy urinated on the floor last year.

Investigators say the boy developed a seizure disorder after sustaining a swollen brain, broken nose and other injuries in the beating. The toddler was foaming at the mouth when police arrived.

Police say they matched many of the boy’s injuries to the father’s leather belt.

Miller, of Ambridge, was convicted of aggravated assault and other charges in November.
