Chris Yambar and George Broderick Jr., the team behind several mainstream comic books, including Bart Simpson, Popeye, I Dream of Jeannie, Mr. Magoo and Lost in Space, will visit the AwwwMazing Place in Eastwood Mall from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

In addition to their mainstream work, they also will offer copies of their award-winning independent titles, including Mr. Beat, Lucha Pop, Suckulina and Meow Wow!

Yambar, who is a Youngstown native, and Broderick created the cancer-survivor superhero LIFE MAXX for Brenda Rider’s A Way With Words Foundation in 2008. The foundation operates the Awwwmazing Place. Broderick also will offer his full-color Cool Yule Christmas comics, which are prized by collectors.

“This will be a great chance for last-minute shoppers to stock up on signed comics and toys for loved ones on their gift list while spreading some goodwill to an organization based right here in our Valley,” said Yambar. “Proceeds raised from this event will benefit child cancer survivors and their families here at home.” Admission and autographs are free.
