YSU to close parking lots during winter break
Staff report
YOUNGSTOWN
In an effort to reduce costs, Youngstown State University will close some parking lots during the winter break until the start of spring semester classes Jan. 18.
John Hyden, YSU executive director of facilities, announced the actions in an e-mail memo to campus.
Lots that will be closed are the M-2 Lincoln Deck, the M-7 lot on Lincoln Avenue, the M-27 lot on Fifth Avenue (across from the athletic ticket office), the lot behind Melnick Hall on Wick Avenue and all lots in Smoky Hollow.
In the event of significant snowfall during the winter break, additional surface lots may be closed, including the M-5 lot on the Madison Avenue Expressway Service Road (next to Wick and Weller House) and the M-4 lot behind the Peck House on Wick Avenue, Hyden said.
Every effort will be made to keep sidewalks and roadways as clear as possible as weather conditions arise, he added.
All parking lots will re-open and snow removal operations will return to normal at the start of the spring semester Jan. 18.
