Podiatrists take steps to collect shoes

Podiatrists with Ankle and Food Care Centers are urging holiday shoppers to help the area’s less fortunate by buying and donating new pairs of shoes for the needy.

During the 2010 shoe drive, the podiatrists, who operate 19 Mahoning Valley foot care offices, hope to collect more than 800 pairs of new or nearly new shoes by Jan. 7.

In February the agencies will distribute the shoes they have collected to individuals throughout Mahoning and Trumbull counties.
