Kathryn Hellweg, city schools superintendent, has been informed by Richard M. Murray, executive director of the Ohio School Facilities Commission, that he will recommend this week that the OSFC should co-fund additional classroom space.

The district constructed the additional space through a locally funded initiative at Jefferson and McGuffey K-8 schools. The district will receive 81 percent of the roughly $3.7 million they spent for additional classroom space. That will result in additional state payments of about $3 million.

School board members approved the necessary resolution at Tuesday’s meeting, consenting to the change.
