POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Canfield city and Austintown:

CANFIELD

Dec. 7

Theft: A woman reported her purse was stolen from her cart at Giant Eagle, 525 E. Main St.

Dec. 8

Warrant: Police arrested Carolyn Springer, 37, 1634 S. Seneca Ave., Alliance, on a Canfield Mayor’s Court warrant. She was released and issued a new court date.

Dec. 10

Drug paraphernalia: Police arrested Jack Watson III, 20, 39 Hancock St., Girard, on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia at Get Go Gas Station, 375 E. Main St.

Austintown

Dec.6

Burglary: Jewelry and medications were stolen from a home in the 200 block of Rosemont Avenue.

Theft: An I-Pod, sneakers and class ring were stolen from a home in the 3000 block of Staatz Drive.

Criminal damaging: Two mirrors were damaged on vehicles at a home in the 20 block of N. Edgehill Avenue.

Theft: A roof and siding were paid for and not completed at a home in the 4000 block of S. Edgehill.

Warrant: Charles McQuillan, 51, 5522 Southern Blvd., Boardman, was arrested on a warrant for probation violation on N. Edgehill.

Theft: Checks were stolen from a home in the 100 block of N. Main Street.

Breaking and entering: A storage unit was broken into at EZ Self Storage, 5214 Mahoning Ave.

Animal complaint: Constance While, 45, 5599 Madrid, was issued a summons for a barking dog.

Criminal damaging: A tire was cut on a vehicle at a home in the 4000 block of E. Radio Road.

Theft: A purse was stolen at K-Mart, 4475 Mahoning Ave.

Dec. 7

Bench Warrant: Jorrell Gibbs, 29, 621 Purdue, was arrested on a bench warrant at 4875 Westchester Drive for failure to appear on a traffic charge. He was also charged during the arrest with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Lost or stolen property: A driver’s license was lost or stolen at an unknown location in the township.

Theft: Enrique Cordero, 35, 1413 S. Forestview Ave., Youngstown, was issued a summons for theft at Wal-Mart, 6001 Mahoning Ave.

Burglary: There was no sign of forced entry in burglary at a home in the 500 block of Western Place.

Dec. 8

Theft: A taillight from a vehicle was taken in the 200 block of S. Meridian Road.

Telecommunications harassment: An ex-girlfriend was texting a victim in the 1000 block of Maplecrest Drive.

Theft: Prescription medication was stolen from a home in the 20 block of Penny Lane.

Theft: A dishwasher was stolen from a home in the 4000 block of Staatz Drive.

Dec. 9

Theft: $22,242 in checks were made out to a fictitious company at Premier Siding and Roofing, 1501 S. Raccoon Road.

Theft: Money from a victim’s wallet was stolen at a home in the 4000 block of Pembrook Road.

Theft: A JVC in-dash stereo was taken and a fire was set in a vehicle at a home in the 3000 block of Sandalwood Drive.

Theft: Two televisions were stolen from Pilot Oil, 1150 N. Canfield-Niles Road.

Theft: Wendy Seem, 61, 10196 Talmadge Road, Diamond, was arrested on a charge of theft at Wal-Mart.

Theft: A laptop and I-Pod were stolen from a home in the 4000 block of Kirk Road.

Recovered property: A credit card was recovered at Certified Oil, 825 N. Canfield-Niles Road.

Dec. 10

Warrant: Police arrested Robert A. Newton, 18, 4523 Kirk Road, on a warrant for assault at Mahoning Avenue and Idaho Road.

Breaking and entering: An unattached garage was entered and a snow blower stolen at a home in the 4000 block of Burkey Road.

Theft: A snow blower was stolen from a patio at a home in the 4000 block of Burkey Road.

Criminal damaging: Lawn damage was reported at Polaris Tech, 400 Victoria Road.

Theft: Kenneth Porter, 59, homeless, was arrested for theft at Wal-Mart.

Recovered property: A notebook and two I-Pods at Austintown Fitch High School, 4560 Falcon Drive.

Dec. 11

Criminal damaging: A rock was thrown through a window at a home in the 6000 block of Fairview Road.

Burglary: Female under garments were taken at an apartment in the 1000 block of S. Raccoon Road.

Fraud: Magazines being delivered were not ordered at a home in the 4000 block of Woodhurst Drive.

Dec. 12

Telecommunications harassment: Unwanted phone calls were reported at a home in the 400 block of S. Raccoon Road.

Drug offense: Two males were issued summonses in the 5400 block of Clarkins Drive, including: Joshua Hickey, 27, 4483 State Route 87, Farmdale, for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and Jeffrey Kadvan, 36, 3524 Orchard Hill, Canfield, possession of marijuana.

Disorderly conduct: Dean Hirsch, 25, 16 S. Portland, Youngstown, was issued a summons for disorderly conduct at Blue Ribbon Motors, 4004 Mahoning Avenue.

Recovered property: A front license plate was recovered at Mahoning Avenue and state Route 46.

Breaking and entering: Police arrested Michael Brancho, 43, 4055 South Ave., Boardman, on charges of possessing criminal tools and breaking and entering in the 10 block of N. Navarre Avenue.
