Ohio mom found guilty, allowed abuse of slain baby
TROY, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio woman has been found guilty of permitting child abuse in the death of her 8-month-old son who authorities say apparently had been bitten and possibly strangled before dying of multiple blunt-force injuries.
Miami County Prosecutor Gary Nasal says 28-year-old Tara Durig was found guilty Monday after pleading no contest in a courtroom in Troy in western Ohio.
Her husband, 29-year-old Jason Durig, was found guilty last week of killing their baby Caleb in July.
Nasal says a child-endangering count against Tara Durig was dismissed in a plea agreement. He says she could get three to 10 years in prison at her Jan. 31 sentencing.
The Dayton Daily News reports Tara Durig told the judge she has a learning disability that causes her to have “trouble comprehending things.”
