Safety course

GIRARD

The Ohio State University Extension 4-H program in Cortland is offering a 12-week (24-hour) safety course focusing on common farm-equipment accident situations, such as highway safety.

The course, which leads to certification, is open to youths age 14 to 16 who need to operate a tractor of more than 20 horsepower.

Youths older than 16 interested in taking the course also are encouraged to enroll. Children under 14 are encouraged to enroll but cannot participate in driving or skills tests, nor will they receive certification.

The course will be every Tuesday evening for 12 weeks from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 11 through March 29 at the Banner Farm in Girard. Cost is $35. For more information, call 330-638-6783.
