Warren mission seeks holiday donations

WARREN
The Warren Family Mission is seeking financial donations as well as 50,000 new, unwrapped toys that can be used to give to families in need this holiday season.
All donations may be dropped off at the mission facility at 361 Elm Road. The mission will have its annual toy giveaway Dec. 21 for those who have signed up for the program, said Dr. Anthony J. Montevideo, volunteer coordinator and assistant development director.
All donations are appreciated. If there are any questions, call 330-392-4357 and ask for Dr. Montevideo.
Dr. Montevideo said the mission is experiencing a 40 percent decrease in donations and a 40 percent increase of those in need because of the high unemployment rate in Warren and Trumbull County.
“Because of this drastic change in numbers, the Warren Family Mission is seeking donations from the community,” the doctor said. “At this time, the greatest need is for financial assistance and toys. The mission will be coming to the assistance of over 1,000 families that do not have the income to provide a complete Christmas for their children.”
The Warren Family Mission provides a number of services to the local community throughout its five facilities.
At the Elm Road building, the mission serves three meals a day Monday through Friday, which averages 10,000 meals per month, and provides clothing and food bags for the community on Mondays.
The mission also offers a free 12-month, faith-based drug and alcohol program to men and women at two separate facilities, and an emergency shelter for families in need.
